Achieved Pregnancy After Fallopian Tube Removal — A TCM-Supported Journey of Ms. Lim Bei Shan
When you’ve been trying to conceive for years and are told that your fallopian tubes are blocked, it can feel like the end of the road. But for many women, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers a new beginning.
Even with IVF, chronic pelvic inflammation can still affect ovarian function and embryo implantation. This is why some patients are advised to remove nonfunctional fallopian tubes.
"Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) plays an important role in supporting recovery after such procedures — helping to restore the uterine lining, regulate the pelvic environment, and enhance ovarian function to improve egg quality. Once the body is well-regulated, proceeding with embryo transfer can significantly increase the chances of a successful pregnancy."
The Diagnosis That Changed Everything
In November 2023, Ms. Lim came to Xi Fertility & Women’s Health TCM for her first consultation. She had been diagnosed with bilateral hydrosalpinx (fluid and blockage in both fallopian tubes) and had an AMH level of 10.5 pmol/L, with around five follicles in each ovary — a sign of reduced ovarian reserve.
She also struggled with recurrent yeast infections (almost once a month), short menstrual cycles (24–26 days) and high work stress, irritability, and mood swings.
A Turning Point: Surgery and Recovery
In December 2024, following medical advice, Ms. Lim underwent a hysteroscopic surgery to remove both blocked fallopian tubes. While it was a difficult decision, this procedure eliminated chronic inflammation and fluid that could affect embryo implantation.
Her post-surgery recovery was supported by continued acupuncture and herbal medicine to promote healing, improve uterine lining, and reduce post-operative adhesions.
The Result: A Positive Pregnancy Test
In June 2025, after months of careful regulation, Ms. Lim proceeded with a Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET). On June 14, her pregnancy test came back positive.
By October 2025, she was already 21 weeks pregnant, feeling healthy, calm, and grateful for how far she had come. With the right combination of Western medical technology and TCM support, many couples have a better chance at achieving a healthy pregnancy.
